ASIS International

National Capital Chapter

Text Box: Greetings National Capital Chapter Members,

It is hard to believe that we are already through the first quarter of the year. We had another great program in March. Mark Sibley’s presentation on “Resilience – It’s a Practical State of Mind” was both interesting and entertaining. It was a wonderful event to end the quarter but we have much more in store for the remainder of 2013.

April was our joint meeting with InfraGard National Capital Region Members Alliance featuring a showing of Game of Pawns, a compelling true story of an American student who was recruited by the Chinese government to infiltrate a US intelligence agency.

We are excited to announce that the ASIS National Capital Chapter has been chosen to participate in a pilot program for ASIS International called “Mentoring Security Leaders”. The program was created to identify experienced security professionals pair them with individuals who are new to the industry or those seeking to progress into leadership positions. Mentors who successfully complete the program will receive CPP recertification points (if applicable). The Chapter Board will be coordinating the implementation with the Leadership & Management Practices Council.

One of the annual highlights for the National Capital Chapter of ASIS International is our May “Law Enforcement Appreciation Day” event. This is our opportunity to recognize those who devote their lives to keeping our communities safe and allows us to express our thanks for their dedication and superior service. We hope you will join us on May 14th and help us make this our most successful Law Enforcement Appreciation Day to date.
